I have always liked New York but it wasn’t until I finally arrived that I realized how much I miss it here.
It was an easy flight up, pugga was well behaved on the plane thanks to Children’s Benadryl, which she wouldn’t eat I assume because it’s not beef flavored but grape so I had to strategically shove it down her throat. And flying always makes me sleepy. I start yawning at the airport, and by the time I reach my seat even before take off I’m already asleep. My American Airlines flight wasn’t full, I guess a lot of people changed their flights due to the news about the airline grounding their planes, so I had the entire row to myself. The flight was delayed but only by 20 minutes, and the female pilot came on the speaker to apologize for the delay. “Ladies and Gentlemen, I apologize for the delay. Our plane came from Colombia, and we had to do a thorough security check before we were able to take off”. Now THIS is a good excuse for a delay.
My taxi driver was so nice and didn’t give me a hard time about the pug. In fact he even showed me pictures of his Sheba Inu and told me his entire life story. Very sweet. Who says New Yorkers aren’t friendly? I arrived at my destination, my friend’s apartment on 42nd and 10th, fed my beasty, and went directly to the nail salon, The Strand on 43rd street. Asian ladies as I walked in, “hello, how ay you?”. Me, “Good. How are you? Manicure pedicure please”. Asian lady, “Ok. Pick colo”. I chose my favorite, the bright pink Fiji. A very young and attractive girl begins my manicure and in 10 minutes she is done. I’ve said this before, these girls are awesome. Asian girl, “Ok. Sit here now” and pointed me to the massaging pedicure chair. I turned it on and closed my eyes. I was almost asleep when she started to buff my feet, and being incredibly tickelish I jumped out of my chair laughing. 10 minutes went by and she was done with my feet. $28 for a perfect mani/pedi. Me so happy.

I was starved so I stopped at Claudio’s Pizza for a perfect NY style slice. It was to die for. I’m going to indulge in all things NY this week and not worry about caloric content. After all what are vacations for?!
I headed back to the apartment and Matt had already arrived from work. We talked for a while, but decided to go out for a beer. We went a block away to the Lansdowne Road Irish Pub on 599 10th Avenue where their motto is “Drink. Sport. Camaraderie.” I ordered my favorite, a pint of ice cold Hoegaarden with a lemon. I also ordered some hot wings to complete my pub experience, and wolfed it down.

It was starting to get late, so we headed back. Thursday is going to be a late one. At least 30 of my friends are coming out to meet me for Happy Hour. I’m very excited to see everyone. Time for some Zs. The adventure continues tomorrow.
